About Limkheda Assembly (Vidha Sabha) Constituency– Bye Elections 2014
By-elections to Limkheda Assembly seat in Gujarat will be held on September 13, 2014. While Vichiya Jokhabhai Bhuriya is the BJP candidate, Chhatrasinh K Meda is the Congress candidate from the constituency. This seat is reserved for ST candidates. As the sitting MLA got elected to Lok Sabha during 2014 Parliamentary election, the seat became vacant. This is the reason why by-election was necessitated in the Limkheda Assembly. There are 1, 74,697 electors in this assembly segment, among which 87,826 are female and 86,869 male. This by-poll election is going to be a litmus test for new CM of Gujarat, Anandi Patel. In fact, this is the first time Gujarat is going to poll without Narendra Modi in the state. Patel is leading the campaign by addressing big rallies, listening to grievances, stressing on women empowerment, and harping on strong organisational structure. Limkheda by-poll is crucial for Congress too because they see a chance of winning, if the trend of the constituency is considered. INC is harping on local issues along with soaring inflation and uncontrolled corruption.During 2012 Assembly election, Bhabhor Jashvantsinh Sumanbhai of BJP defeated Baria Punabhai Jesingbhai of Congress. During last four times, it has been a direct contest between INC and BJP.
