Bengaluru hosts a robust software ecosystem of global tech companies, startups and research institutions. Hyundai Mobis selected the city after evaluating additional locations to address rising software development requirements, citing its strong talent base and mature development environment, the company said in a statement.
Focusing on infotainment softwareThe Bengaluru centre will specialise in infotainment software. With India’s passenger vehicle market shifting from compact cars to mid- and large-sized models and adoption of high-value electronic systems such as ADAS rising, the demand for advanced software skills has increased sharply.
Under the revised R&D structure, the Hyderabad hub will continue to function as the company’s local R&D headquarters, focusing on software strategy, collaboration with global R&D centres and application development. The Bengaluru branch will work on hardware-linked areas such as frameworks that underpin software functionality. Together, the two centres will expand Hyundai Mobis’s software development scope and strengthen platform capabilities for global customers operating in India.
The new branch is also aimed at strengthening recruitment efforts. India’s diverse linguistic and cultural landscape has created region-specific talent pools, and global automakers and suppliers are increasingly setting up satellite offices across major Indian cities to tap into this diversity. Hyundai Mobis noted that several key Indian customers are concentrated in Bengaluru, and a local presence will help it respond more quickly to customer needs and improve order competitiveness.
Hyundai Mobis has been building its operational footprint in India with key facilities including production hubs in Chennai and Anantapur, a parts centre in Gurugram, and quality and procurement centres in Delhi and Chennai.
